On 8.3.1973, at the General Meeting of the Lions Club Ghaziabad, it was resolved that must build an eye hospital. An Eye Hospital Committee of 12 members was formed. It could be day dreaming those days but on 15th October, 1976,15 Lions of Ghaziabad Joined hands and put their signatures on the Memorandum of Association of Lions Eye Hospital, Ghaziabad. It got registered on 15.4.1978. Haryant K. Chaudhry was its first Chairman with Vinod Kumar Singal as Hony. Secretary. G.D.A. allotted land in 1984 in E Block, Kavi Nagar Opp. Nehru Nagar Rly. crossing. The first small building was inaugurated on 31.3.1991.
Now this is a big hospital speedly developed during last few years under with totally renovated building with two OTs, 4 General wards of 10 beds each, 4 Private wards fitted with ACs, besides big hall to accommodate mega - camps. Operation Theatre is fully renovated and fitted with most modern gadgets and equipments to match any international standards. Latest Phaco machine has been installed in November, 2012. A big room for eye-surgeon, refraction room, Administrative. Block stores, Reception center, big waiting lounge fitted with latest furniture for the patients in waiting are other facilities.

The Hospital has very competent eye-surgeon o/t assistants, Refractions and other para-medical staff and administrative staff. It provides regular. OPD daily (accept Saturdays), performs eye-surgeries, particularly IOL operations. With the help of mobile van, hospital organises regular out-reach camps in different and distant  places in a periphery of 150 kms, brings patients for surgery to the base hospital and drops them back after the surgery. During their stay, they are provided with tea, lunch, dinner etc. students are checked and provided advice and medicines at colleges to prevent the curable disease as the initial stages. Many similar organizations are joining hands in meeting the objectives. The hospital is catering to approx 4 million needy people in the area and about a lakh of students. Organising 10-20 camps every month, providing eye-relief to 50-60 thousands of patients and performing thousands of free  surgeries every year & has brought highest of fame among community.
